The capital of Pella, Edessa, is built on the foot of Mount Vermio and bears impressive waterfalls coupled with panoramic views. In the village of Agras, the artificial lake of 10-square kilometers is now an important wetland for mallards and swans.
The town of Skydra is well-known for its local fruit production. Arnissa is famed for its ambience; it is built by the Lake Vegoritida on the foot hills of the Kaymaktsalan Mountain.
The ruins of the Ancient City of Pella, the capital of the Kingdom of Macedonia, extend in the area between the villages of Pella and Nea Pella. The palace of King Philip the 2nd and Alexander the Great had been located in Ancient Pella: its walls, temples, forum and cemetery have been excavated.
